Coaching Support for Mums Raising Neurodiverse Children

Sometimes we face big questions, have a problem that needs solving, just feel stuck in a rut. Coaching focuses on building mindsets, confidence, accountability and taking action. Sometimes we do not want to discuss underlying feelings, we just want to solve the problem and that is when coaching can really help. Coaching is about accelerating progress, like working with a personal trainer for your brain that can target specific areas and boost technique to get results fast

In coaching, I will work with you to:

  • Understand the problem you are facing, in the context of your life

  • Identify where you want to be and most importantly why you want to make the change

  • Find the most powerful actions you can take to get you there fast, leveraging your strengths

  • Develop a mindset, skillset and toolkit to support you create lasting change

  • Keep you on track towards your goals checking in on progress and adapting strategies

Often people come to coaching, because they feel lost or stuck. You might have tried lots of things already and it hasn't worked, or you might be feeling overwhelmed trying to sift through a galaxy of ideas and options to work out what might help the most, or you might just not have the time to work it all out yourself.  Whatever the reason, you are here, welcome and know you are not alone.

Sometimes coaching can seem like a big investment in ourselves, but when you think about the time, effort, stress and energy it can save, the investment can pay off really fast. Coaching is an opportunity to outsource the mental load and leverage expertise to start living the change you want sooner

In coaching, deeper feelings and wounds come up. Most coaches are not accredited or trained in mental health and should not process emotions, feelings and trauma. For your own wellbeing and safety, they should refer you on. Unlike other coaches, this does not need to happen as
I am also a registered counsellor and can support you in processing and healing, if these things arise.

Guided Coaching for Mums:
ADHD, CPS and Life Balance Support

Coaching is a skill which can be applied across a range of areas. However, when working with a coach that 'gets it' and has experience working with the challenges you are facing, you can save time and effort, feel more confident in the skills you are learning and decisions you are making.

When we become mums, have another child, return to work or when we learn about our neurodiversity, everything changes for us, but nothing seems to change around us. It is often these points of change where life can get really hard and this is where I specialise in helping mums like you. â€‹â€‹

AuADHD/ADHD Online Coaching

a neurodivergent mum navigating a rock maze - a metaphor of her neurodiversity

When we discover our neurodiversity, suddenly our lives make sense. It becomes clear why some things come easily and other things are harder. ADHD/AuADHD coaching is a game changing solution to make the hard parts of our neurodiversity easier so you can enjoy more of the amazing strengths that come with it.

For me, AuADHD/ADHD coaching for clients is really personal and needs to be tailored to you as an individual. There are commonalities in how our brains work, however we are all different with unique lives, experience, knowledge, skills, needs and desires. When working with an AuDHD/ADHD coach it is really important that they see the whole you

I love working online with my AuADHD/ADHD clients as you can take me with you and show me the challenges you are experiencing. In this model, we can try out strategies in real time, see how they work for you and build task momentum. Many clients like to leave an hour or two free after sessions so they can keep going on the work we have started as neurodiverse brains usually like thinking in tunnels, not in tasks. Once momentum is rolling - we can be unstoppable.

Session content changes based on your unique situation and needs. Common topics include:

  • Getting clear on your strengths as well as challenges gaining insight into the toughest parts of the day

  • Understanding the environments you are in and how these might be impacting your sensory needs

  • Learning and practically applying strategies to support your challenges, whether that be time dysphoria, prioritisation, motivation, pacing, task management, people pleasing, managing overwhelm or impulsivity

  • Crafting a positive self identity that embraces your neurodiversity and self-compassion

  • Embedding strategies in your day to day life.

In working with clients I bring a range of tools from different neurodiversity courses (see the up to date list here) as well as my corporate career covering Lean Six Sigma Process Efficiency, Agile Ways of Working and Project Management for a range of solutions that traverse both our personal lives and careers

Online sessions run for 50 minutes and are $150 (ex GST) with the remaining 10 minutes of session time used for administration such as note taking, sharing clear next steps and homework exercises in visual, accessible forms. This is part of the way I work with clients to share the executive functioning load and set you up for success. As each client is different, I don't offer set packages and it means you can stop at any time you like.

To try before you buy, I encourage all my clients to take advantage of a free 15 minute discovery call and try out the online experience or to send questions through via email, if this is more comfortable for you.

Parent Coaching Using CPS
(Collaborative & Proactive Solutions)

A neuroscience-based, compassion-driven, neuroaffirming parenting approach that really works. Reduce concerning behaviours, meltdowns and improve family bonds as you collaborate to solve problems together.
Parenting a neurodiverse child can feel isolating — especially when you’re facing daily meltdowns, explosive behaviour, or intense anxiety. You can feel judged, like a failure as a parent and watching them struggle can be heart breaking. You are not alone in this.

A Respectful, Evidence-Based Alternative to ABA for Neurodiverse Families

Whether your child is Autistic, has ADHD, ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder), or PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance), other neurodivergence or a combination of these things, Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) offers a practical, compassionate approach that truly fits. Developed by Dr Ross Greene, CPS is a neuroaffirming framework that helps parents move away from power struggles and towards meaningful collaboration.

At the heart of Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) is a simple but powerful belief: kids do well if they can. Challenging behaviour isn’t about defiance or attention-seeking — it’s a signal that your child is struggling with skills like flexibility, frustration tolerance, or problem-solving. Instead of focusing on fixing the behaviour, CPS helps families identify and address the underlying problems causing it, working with your child to do so.

Through CPS coaching, you’ll learn how to:

  • Embrace the CPS mindset and methodology - allowing for ongoing use in daily life

  • Identify “unsolved problems” that are leading to the challenging behaviour

  • Have collaborative, proactive conversations to co-create solutions with your child

  • Strengthen connection, reduce meltdowns, and build mutual trust

  • Develop a consistent, respectful framework for handling day-to-day challenges

  • Assess and update the success of solutions, adjusting plans as needed.

These sessions are fantastic for parents that are new to the model or who have done some training and are getting stuck on implementation. This approach is not about establishing neurotypical norms and rewarding or punishing your child's behaviour, it is based on building empathy with them, understanding their world and frustrations and creating solutions that meet their needs - and yours.

This approach helps reduce conflict, build trust, and honour your child’s unique needs, while giving you clarity, confidence, and tools that actually work. If you’re tired of strategies that feel rigid, blame-focused, or just don’t fit your family, CPS coaching offers a fresh, empowering way forward. You’re not alone — and you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Book a discovery session now or reach out by email to find out more about this model and begin the journey from conflict to connection

Rebalance and Reclaim
Life Coaching Online

a neurodivergent mum putting herself first, jogging on the beach listening to music and smiling

For many mums somewhere along the line, we lose ourselves, lose sight of our needs and end up putting ourselves last. We don't know how we got here and it can be hard to find a way out. Whether it is your boundaries letting you down, not being able to find the time or no longer knowing what you want, it is possible to reclaim your identity and rebalance your life.

When we have kids, we undertake a process called Matrescence. Our bodies, lives, minds and social structures undergo a change that is equivalent to adolescence, but we do it in 10 months, with real world responsibilities and a mini-human to look after at the end. For us everything changes, but at the same time, often nothing around us does. It is therefore not surprising that nothing seems to fit anymore, and we can feel like we are making it all up as we go along. On top of this, we have more responsibility than ever, more to do in the day and significantly less time and energy to do it. We then end up neglecting ourselves, feeling overwhelmed and resentful and getting more burned out as we don't know how to break the cycle.

When I work with mums to reclaim and rebalance, I like to use a mix of coaching tools and strategic consulting frameworks and process efficiency tools from corporate life, to look at this situation in a different way. By taking ourselves out from the centre of it, we can embrace curiosity, rather than judgement and let go of the should and expectations, empowered to think differently.  Some of my favourites are:

  • Identifying a vision and values for you as a person, to guide your decision making

  • Working out the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to your vision

  • Understanding energy in and out and 'red' zones for the day

  • Establishing your objectives- giving you permission to prioritise your resources and say no to distractions

  • Find more resources by analysing the effort and impact of actions

  • Creating an operating rhythm that works for you, building out time for you in the day

When you work with me, I will teach you how to use these tools and frameworks so that you can apply them to other areas of your life and challenges you face as life gets more complex.

Online sessions run for 50 minutes with the remaining 10 minutes of the hour used for note taking, to summarise actions and share resources so you can continue work between sessions. Sessions are $150 ex GST. I do not push packages, so you can cancel at anytime you like.

benefits of online coaching for mums

Online therapy is not for everyone and that is OK. But before you click close, know not all online experiences are created equal. I used to offer both online and in person but changed to online due to overwhelming client feedback. â€‹
I now specialise in online therapy only. It is not a second rate experience at Mumshine, I focus all my efforts on making it better than being there in person.

Clients love online , because:

  • Sessions are easier to fit into the day and can even be done on lunch break when WFH.

  • Clients are in their own sensory environment, making it easier to relax and regulate.

  • Clients love having pets with them and patting them during sessions.

  • There is less executive functioning load and time/planning pressure with no commute.

  • No busy waiting rooms and crowds which can feel overwhelming, especially when we are vulnerable.

  • You can move your body in session and walk around your house or garden if you like.

  • Online boards allow space for sharing information and a place for clients to draw.

  • Clients can type rather than talk to express themselves as they like.

  • You can share your world with me, if you choose to. â€‹â€‹

Want to test out the online experience and see how it works for you? Book a free, 15 minute discovery call now with no obligations to try it out for yourself.

neuroaffirming coaching for mothers

As a neuro-affirming therapist, I see you as a whole person, whether you are neurotypical or neurodiverse. It is about recognising that all our brains work differently, not better or worse. There is no 'one way' or 'right; way to conduct therapy and  I love tailoring my approach to support different needs of my clients. In the initial session we spend time understanding you - your preferences, how your brain works best and things which are more tricky for you and then build a plan that works with your brain, not against it.

I know and have seen a lot of claims out there from people claiming to be neuroaffirming and I think it is important that we talk about how we are neuroaffirming in the work we do. Some specific principles I have embedded into my practice are:

  •  All communication forms as valid and I love using alternative ways to communicate with clients (including visual images, songs and writing) in session.

  • There is no 'one way' to learn. In addition to explaining terms with words, I use and share a range of visual tools (like videos or mind maps), demonstrate exercises, and encourage clients to 'do' not just listen. Clients are encouraged to take notes as they like and even take videos of the exercises we do.

  • Easy bookings and reminders - You can book directly without needing to speak with someone and be 'screened', the intake form and payment are done at booking (less things to remember) and I will send you reminders by phone and email with easy options to reschedule or cancel for those times life gets in the way.

  • Trauma is not a dirty word. We have all experienced trauma (some big T and some little t) so I practice trauma informed therapy to ensure therapy is sensitive to your experience.

  • Focus on strengths - I work with you to focus on identifying and building on your strengths, rather than on weaknesses and adjust therapy to build on these.

  • You are capable and need to make your own care decisions.  My job is to walk alongside you, to listen without judgement, to help you identify goals and support you in achieving them. I will not tell you what to do or think I know you best.

  • I see neurodiversity as a natural part of the human experience all people and brains are different. Neurodiverse people do not need to be fixed, it is about having strategies, environments and support to help you to manage the difficult parts and making the most of the amazing strengths this brain type gives you. â€‹
