After our diagnosis the questions come -
Who am I really?
What does this all mean ?
How can I live I life that works better for me?
Answering them can feel huge.
Making small experiments to test and learn feels safer, more repeatable, less overwhelming.
This guide and instruction video helps you to work out who you are, one small step at a time.
After Diagnosis We Often Realise
Masking has become a default - not a choice
We learned young that our needs were "too much", that we were "too difficult".
We found out that it didn't feel safe, or comfortable to be ourselves in systems that were never designed for us.
Somewhere along the way we started prioritising everyone else's comfort over our own.
We started shaping ourselves to meet other peoples expectaions.
When we finally get a diagnosis - we want to truly meet ourselves. To discover and honour our needs.
It is a chance to live a life that works with our brains.
When we have these realisations the desire to change can be intense.
Knowing how or where to start can feel overwhelming.
Unmasking safely is about small, simple steps and consciously choosing where we drop the mask.

Freya believes neurodivergence is a natural part of human diversity, not something to be fixed or hidden. She understands that we have learned to mask after a lifetime of not feeling safe to be ourselves and that dropping the mask can feel overwhelming and urgent all at the same time.
Freya is a registered, tertiary-qualified counsellor whose work is deeply shaped by her passion for neuroaffirming practice. She has dedicated thousands of hours to learning about neurodivergence and continuously expands her knowledge and skills.
Alongside Mumshine, Freya co-created Neurospice & Life — a neuroaffirming platform and podcast centred on reflecting, reframing and reclaiming neurodivergent experiences www.neurospiceandlife.com
