Learning circles - small group sessions
When we feel lost or failing - we often think we are the only one. That everyone else has their act together, and that we are defective in some way. Well guess what, you are not alone. Despite what social and mainstream media shows us, nobody has it all worked out, there is no perfect life and no no perfect mother. Group sessions allow incredible mums, like you, from across Australia to come together, share stories, be real and vulnerable and learn together in a supportive and facilitated environment.
Mumshine small groups focus on a specific area which becomes a common thread and shared place of understanding that binds us together - even though we lead very different lives. These sessions are open to mums across Australia and are based online so that you can join from wherever you are and feel a little less alone. There will never be more than 10 mothers in a session and sessions run for 90 minutes ensuring everyone has time to participate - if they like.
Sessions are online, making it easier to fit into your life and easier to share tools and resources. The group will be given a chance to vote on topics covered and then we will learn, reflect on and apply the learning together. Small group sessions are only $55 ex GST for a 90 minute session with a guaranteed resources each session to keep and continue your learning journey.
Small Group Focus Areas
By having a common topic, you know you are coming together with other mums that 'get it'.
Raising neurodiverse kids

Every mum's journey is different and there is no easy ride. Raising neurodiverse kids can present it's own set of highs and lows which can be hard to understand for people that have not experienced it. We love our kids and at the same time are exhausted by the daily challenges of raising them in a world that is not designed to support their needs.
This small group will explore this experience and the emotions that come with it, learning different tools and techniques to help you feel more confident, content and capable in your mothering journey. Each session there will be a different topic or theme and a chance to ask questions and learn from each other. Topics will be influenced by the group and could include:
-
Moving from diagnosis deficit to seeing your child's strengths
-
Processing parenting fears and doubts
-
Preventing burnout
-
Dealing with judgement
-
Managing mum guilt
-
Keeping calm when advocating
-
Neuroaffirming language and stories
-
The concept of co-care
-
Mood managament
-
Making decisions easier and reducing cognitive load

Neurodiverse mothers

Our neurodiversity is part of who we are, not something we 'have'.
It is how our brain works and shapes how we interpret and interact with the world. Our beautiful brains bring amazing strengths and unique qualities but also some challenges which make navigating the demands of modern motherhood a little more challenging.
This small group will explore the experiences we have as neurodiverse mothers and the underlying emotions that come with it. We will also focus on practical strategies and tools, that you can take away from session and apply through your week. Each session there will be a different topic or theme and a chance to ask questions and learn from each other. Topics will be influenced by the group and could include:
-
Processing late diagnosis
-
Building a neuroaffirming self identity
-
Mindfulness for neurodiverse brains
-
Accepting our differences
-
Advocating for our needs
-
People pleasing
-
Mum guilt for neurodiverse mums
-
Setting and maintaining boundaries
-
Managing cognitive load and reducing executive functioning demands
-
Big feelings and managing overwhelm
-
Burnout prevention

why online sessions?
Online sessions are not for everyone and that is OK. But before you click close, know not all online experiences are created equal. I used to offer both online and in person but changed to online due to overwhelming client feedback.
I now specialise in online only. It is not a second rate experience at Mumshine, I focus all my efforts on making it better than being there in person.
Clients love online , because:
-
Sessions are easier to fit into the day and can even be done on lunch break when working from home.
-
Clients are in their own sensory environment, making it easier to relax and regulate.
-
Clients love having pets with them and patting them during sessions.
-
There is less executive functioning load and time/planning pressure with no commute.
-
No busy waiting rooms and crowds which can feel overwhelming, especially when we are vulnerable.
-
You can move your body in session and walk around your house or garden if you like.
-
Online boards allow space for sharing information and a place for clients to draw.
-
Clients can type rather than talk to express themselves as they like.
-
You can share your world with me, if you choose to.

When working with clients I draw on all of these skills and lived experiences to find the right tool for the client, especially when working on balancing the emotional and practical needs of being a mum.
I offer a limited number of one-on-one online appointments each week in addition to dedicated groups, short courses and free resources. My aim is to meet and support mum's where they are at.
