Where are sessions held?

All sessions are held online via Zoom. I previously offered face-to-face appointments, however I moved fully online in response to overwhelming client feedback about how much safer, easier and more accessible online sessions feel.

Many clients tell me that online counselling supports them because it offers:

  • Less planning, admin and cognitive load
No travel, parking, childcare juggling or logistics to manage before you even begin.

  • Reduced social pressure
No waiting rooms, small talk or pressure to present a certain way.

  • A comfortable sensory environment
You’re in your own space, with control over lighting, sound, temperature and movement.

  • The option for fur-babies (or comfort items) to stay close
Many clients find this grounding and soothing.

  • Flexible communication styles
We can use chat, whiteboard tools, screen-sharing or visual supports — and you’re welcome to show me elements of your world if that feels helpful.

  • Less total time to attend
No commuting or buffer time. Some mums even join during a lunch break or while a little one naps.

Online counselling allows therapy to fit more gently into real life, while still offering connection, depth and meaningful therapeutic outcomes.

How long are sessions?

Sessions run for an hour. This typically involves "active" time of about 50 minutes where we work together (some call it talk time) and an additional 10 minutes where I send you next steps, actions and any exercises or materials we talked about in the session.

I know you have a lot on your plate already so one simple email (or what's app) makes it easier to find, remember and reflect on later - so it is easier for you to integrate learnings into your life.

How much are sessions?

My counselling sessions are $187 (inc. GST) for 60 minutes.
This includes a 50-minute session, plus 10 minutes for me to share next steps and resources so you get a clean neat summary, with less things to remember.

You can choose a 10-session bundle and save 10% so each session is less than $170.
You have 12 months to use sessions so you can move entirely at your own pace.

Do you accept NDIS?

I accept NDIS for clients who are plan and self managed. For these sessions, I invoice at the NDIS rate so there is no gap to you.

I will ask to see a copy of your plan so I can ensure there is funding in the right category and also to ensure that we are working on things to support your goals.

Do you offer concession rates?

As part of my commitment to accessible, neuroaffirming care, I offer a small number of reduced-fee places.

Concession sessions are available in blocks of 10, which can be used over a 10-month window. This helps with forward-planning support and budgeting, while still giving you flexibility in how often you attend.

If you’d like to enquire about availability, you’re welcome to email me at hello@mumshine.com.au

What is the process from here?

Before starting sessions, you’re welcome to get to know me and ask any questions about counselling or your goals. We can do this by email or in a free 15-minute discovery call. After that, you can decide whether you’d like to begin counselling. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, that’s completely okay — I’m happy to suggest other services that may better meet your needs.

Discovery Stage (via email or discovery call)

Rather than beginning with heavy paperwork, I’ll ask a few simple, relevant questions about what brings you to counselling, any important health history, your preferred communication style, and any accommodations or supports that help you feel safe.

You’re welcome to ask questions at any time (by email or during our chat). I’ll also share a copy of my Client Service Agreement, so there are no surprises about how therapy works.

First Session

I work in a collaborative, goal-focused way. In our first session, we’ll gently explore what feels hard right now and what you’d like life to feel like instead. Together, we’ll agree on an initial goal to guide our work.

You’re free to share at your own pace — there is no pressure or expectation to rush your story.

Ongoing Sessions

We’ll continue working toward your goals, adjusting them as needed over time. If it feels helpful, I may offer optional resources or exercises between sessions to support your progress - entirely your choice.

We’ll also check in regularly about how counselling is going and what’s working for you. Feedback is always welcome, and you can choose the format that feels most comfortable.

Winding Up

At some point, counselling will begin to feel complete. The heavy thing that brought you here, will feel lighter and you will feel confident in your ability to live you life. This is usually a moment that we notice and celebrate together — it won’t come as a surprise. As we approach your goals, we’ll talk about next steps and you can choose to:

  • identify a new goal and continue working together, or

  • create a support plan and wind up regular sessions.

Some clients return from time to time for occasional check-ins. And of course, you may choose to end counselling at any time — you don’t need to provide a reason.

How long do the programs run for?

Each program has been designed with a specific support need in mind and vary in structure, content, number of sessions, ongoing support etc.

So even with programs, there is no 'one size fits all'. For program duration and session timing, please check the program page.

How much do the programs cost?

Each program has been designed with a specific support need in mind and vary in structure, content, number of sessions, ongoing support etc.

So even with programs, there is no 'one size fits all'. For program pricing, please check the program page.

Do you accept NDIS?

Unfortunately do to recent changes in the NDIS only individual sessions are eligible for self and plan managed NDIS participants. If this is you I can offer the same program with shorter 60 minute one on one sessions in lieu of group sessions and fund the program this way.

I will ask to see a copy of your plan so I can ensure there is funding in the right category and also to ensure that we are working on things to support your goals.

If you feel you would benefit from a group environment, I can offer afterpay payment options to reduce upfront costs when funding personally.

Do you offer concession rates?

I have designed group programs to be an affordable and accessible option for ND mums and priced them as low as I can while ensuring I provide quality services.

I am able to offer afterpay plans to make the cost even more manageable.

Is there a screening or intake process?

Yes. To keep the group safe and supportive, there is a short screening questionnaire, followed by a brief conversation to discuss your needs and where you are at.

Some mums might need some individual sessions to be ready for a group and other mums might benefit from a different group. This is not about seeing if you are 'good enough' or providing a high pressure sales environment (like some coaches are known to do). It is about making sure the environment is safe and supportive for you and that participation will support your wellbeing.

If you are struggling with RSD (many ND mums do) and are concerned about this process - please drop me an email and there are different ways we can do this so it feels easier and less scary for you.

Why are groups scheduled during work hours?

For many neurodivergent mums, it can be easier to carve out time during the workday than in the busy mornings or evenings when demands are often higher and spoons/energy need to be conserved. It is also difficult to find a time that works for all mums - across Australia (especially in the Summer months)

Sessions are usually 90 minutes, so can usually be accommodated with an extended lunch break. On request—I can provide a letter confirming your attendance at a health appointment for the duration of the program. (This is not a medical certificate, but it may support flexible arrangements with your employer.)

Do I have to talk or share in every session?

Nope - these spaces are designed to be safe for you. We use chat, whiteboards and alternate ways to communicate and you’re welcome to participate in a way that feels comfortable for you. If you prefer to listen and reflect quietly that is also OK.

Are these therapy groups or social support spaces?

These are therapeutic, counsellor-facilitated groups using neuroaffirming therapeutic tools and techniques. They are structured, supportive spaces rather than casual chat groups.

What technology do I need to join?

You’ll need a device with a camera (ideally with a screen and keyboard/mouse so that you can complete any whiteboard activities easily), a stable internet connection, and a quiet space if possible. Headphones are helpful for privacy.

What happens if I miss a session?

I get it, life happens. If you are unable to attend a session I will drop you a note with the tools and resources used in the session and any activities we did to complete at a time that works for you.

You will still have access to the group chat to ask any questions or seek feedback.

Self-Paced Resources (Courses, Workbooks, Tools)

What if I don’t love it?

If the resource isn’t a good fit, please let me know within 30 days and I’ll arrange a refund (less transaction fees).

I may ask for optional feedback — not to delay your refund — but because I genuinely use feedback to improve resources and make them more inclusive and supportive.

Can I share the worksheets or course with others?

No — all self-paced resources are for personal use only. They are intentionally priced to remain accessible, and I ask that you honour the care, time and work that goes into creating them.

I have spent a lot of time, effort and love to develop these tools based on years of experience and thousands of hours of learning. I make them to make education and support more accessible to our beautiful neurodivergent community and I please ask that you point people my way, rather than sharing these tools.

Can I use these materials with my own clients or in my work?

Not without permission. These resources are licensed for personal use only. If you’d like to request professional or commercial use, please email me and we can discuss options to support your needs.

I have spent a lot of time, effort and love developing these tools based on years of experience and thousands of hours of learning and I kindly ask that other practitioners respect this.

Is this the same as counselling or therapy?

No. Self-paced tools are educational and entertainment resources.

They don’t take into account your personal circumstances or medical history and they do not provide advice. As such, the do not replace personalised counselling or therapeutic care, but they can complement it beautifully.

If in using the tools you feel you need more support, please contact me at hello@mumshine.com.au and I can talk to you about alternate support options I offer or help you find some neuroaffirming support where you are based.

Where can I find full terms and conditions?

More detail is available in the Service Agreement, which outlines refunds, access, and usage permissions.
